Did someone say penguins??
In the winter of 2021/22 a select team of 10 Scouts (including one Guide) will be sailing a tall ship from South America to Port Lockroy in Antarctica. This expedition will commemorate 100 years since Sir Ernest Shackleton invited two Scouts to join him on his Quest expedition! This Climate Quest website helps provide funding for this expedition.
Why Climate Change?
Each of the 10 participants of ReQuest2021 will be undertaking their own personal project. These range from physiological experiments to the creation of podcasts. Lucy’s project focuses on climate change education in relation to Antarctica and she has therefore created both a challenge pack and online ‘Climate Quest’ resource to inspire young people and help them achieve her ‘Stop Climate Change’ badge.
Fundraising
The team’s fundraising for the expedition and project totals £110,000. Despite hitting their halfway mark there is still a long way to go and all profits from the selling of badges will be contributing towards their total.
